Sundown Mourns the Loss of Bob Taylor

LAKE FOREST, CALIFORNIA-June 21, 2005 - Sundown has been in business for 25 years now and during all that time, we have always considered ourselves a family. We care about each other just like we care about our customers and vendors. That is why we are deeply saddened to inform you that yesterday we lost a member of the Sundown family. We are all in shock over this tragic loss.

Bob Taylor, our Senior Lighting Consultant based at our Pomona Branch was on a long vacation in Montana, touring on one of his "beloved" Harleys when he suddenly had a deer run out in front of his motorcycle. He crashed on the highway and was taken to a local hospital with what were thought to be moderate injuries. We had every reason to believe that he was doing great and would be all right. We were talking with him in the hospital, he was sending emails on Sunday night...but complications from surgery yesterday - took his life.

Bob was a great leader in the lighting and electrical industry, having run Twin Lighting for 25 years before joining forces with Sundown Lighting. Bob was an excellent electrician, business owner, and a hard working guy that earned the respect and admiration of a large customer base as well as his colleagues here. His humor, talent and friendship will be sorely missed by all of us.

Bob is survived by his loving wife Valerie, as well as three grown daughters. We will do everything possible to support them through this challenging time.

Just days before the accident, Bob sent us the following picture and an e-mail telling of his trip and the fun he was having on the open road. On the following page is an excerpt from that e-mail and a picture of Bob taken just 9 days ago.

With the throttle open, ears ringing and
hammering down the rode weve been to
CONNECTICUT, DELAWARE, ILLINOIS,
INDIANA, IOWA, MAINE, MARYLAND,
MASSACHUSETTS, MICHIGAN, MINNESOTA,
NEW HAMPSHIRE, NEW JERSEY, NEW YORK
NORTH CAROLINA, OHIO, PENNSYLVANIA,
RHODE ISLAND, SOUTH CAROLINA,
TENNESSEE, VERMONT, VIRGINA, WEST
VIRGINA AND WISCONSIN!!!
ALMOST 4,000 MILES DOWN THE ROAD!!!

Some of the highlights on the ride.
Rode thru the Smoky Mountains, famous Dragons Tail in Tenn., Blue Ridge Parkway, Getttysburg, Harley Davidson plant in York where my bike was built, saw the Empire State Building, Niagara Falls and have ridden thru picture perfect scenery.

Some heart throbbing moments !!!!!
Just missed hitting two deer and one wild turkey flying across the rode just above my head. Almost hit a parked car in the middle of the road, that the driver left the car to take a picture of a bear in the woods. Sorry to say that bird didnt make it as it flew right in front of me and hes laying in the middle of the road.

I ALWAYS SAID, THAT MY HARLEY MOTORCYCLE IS THE SECOND MOST EXCITING THING THAT I HAVE. THE NUMBER ONE THING IS THE PASSENGER BEHIND ME. WAIT, IM RIDING SOLO! SO I GUESS THE HARLEY NOW BECOMES NUMBER ONE. I GUESS WE ALL CAN BE REPLACED, BUT WAIT A MINUTE, I MISS THE BACK RUBS. I MAY HAVE TO RETHINK THAT !!

Riding with 2 fun guys, but they like to hit the road too damn early for me. Cant party in every town!!!

See you soon,
Bob Taylor
